Springfield – Evelyn Zetta Weeks Christain, 86, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.
The Effingham County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was a homemaker and an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sidney R. Christain, Sr.
Survivors include 2 daughters and son-in-law, Deborah C. Cowart of Springfield and Karen C. Deal (John) of Richmond Hill; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Sidney R. Christain, Jr. "Skipper" (Sandy) and David Andrew Christain, Sr. both of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Lauren (Troy) Butler, Wesley (Ansley) Christain, Adam Deal, Emily (Chuck) Courtenay, Jessica (Gary) Javo, Andrew Christain, Bryan Christain, and Michael Christain; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, Waylon Courtenay and Sydney Butler; 2 step-great-grandchildren; half brother, Ralph Simmons of Chesapeake, VA; special niece, Beth (Bobby) Lively of Augusta.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Springfield followed by funeral services at 3 p.m.
Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery Annex.
