Mrs. Faye Gilmore Coleman Pevey, 74 of Black Creek, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Hospice of Savannah.
Faye was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Gilmore and Evelyn Lewis Jenkins, her first husband, Irvin Coleman, a grandson, David Pevey, siblings, Ray Gilmore, Philip Gilmore, Donnie Jenkins and Richard Jenkins, a daughter-in-law, Heidi Pevey, and her step-father, Pratt Lester Jenkins. She was employed for 25 years at Savannah Pediatrics and was a member of Powers Baptist Church. She enjoyed swimming, exercising, bowling and shag dancing.
Survivors include her husband, H. Sam Pevey, Jr.; children, Charles F. Coleman (Dana), Russell M. Coleman (Olivia), Sam Pevey, III and Teresa McKenzie (Tim); grandchildren, Lisa Giddins, April Pevey, Conner Coleman (Hannah), and Sarah Coleman; great-grandchildren, Isabella Giddins, Adalyn Rose Coleman and Brynleigh Faye Coleman; siblings, Georgia Elizabeth Simmons (Marshal) and Debra S. Kieffer as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Powers Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral to honor Faye's life will follow at 12 noon in the sanctuary of the church. The church is located at 1104 U.S. Highway 80 in Eden, Georgia 31307. The pallbearers will be Marshall Simmons, Chris Simmons, Timmy Simmons, Lance Grooms, Conner Coleman, and Tim McKenzie. Burial will follow at the Powers Baptist Church Cemetery.
