Mrs. Faye Slater Hodges, 88, born on November 3, 1936, passed away on June 24, 2025.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Sonny Hodges, parents, Nathan and Jewell Slater, her sisters, Jeanette Rouse (Ed) and Bea Nitz (Fritz), her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Doris Hodges, and her son-in-law, Tommy Tipton. Faye lived in Port Wentworth for the last 67 years. She was a hairdresser for 35+ years and owned/operated Kut & Kurl Kottage. She was very active in her community as well as her church, the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth. She cooked the Wednesday night suppers for many years, taught Sunday School, was on the Social Committee, was responsible for seasonal decorating, was in charge of snacks at Vacation Bible School (and they were much more than crackers and juice), sang in the choir, and sang in the Southern Praise group with Toni and Mike. Her love language was feeding people, she worked at the election polls, and fixed hair at the nursing home. Faye was very outgoing, loved meeting new people and she never met a stranger. Her family was VERY important to her, and she enjoyed having a good time with them. She spent many "mini" vacations with her daughters, her sisters, Bobbie and Sue, and their girls for over 30 years. She loved to play softball, liked to stay on the go, and enjoyed watching the Braves and Dawgs, reading, singing, and playing games on her Ipad.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Toni Davis (Mike) and Leslie Tipton; grandchildren, Amber Gonsalves (Mike Ange), Amanda Sanders (Shane), Jarrod Tipton, William Davis (Corrie), and Marcus Davis; great-grandchildren, Caleb Gonsalves (Gabby), Luke Wendorf, Aaron Gonsalves, Emmaline Sanders, Avery Sanders, Piper Roderick, Kayden Davis, Nora Davis, Nikolai Davis, and Leeya Davis; great-great-grandchildren, Addie Gonsalves, Elena Gonsalves, and Cade Gonsalves; sisters, Sue Stafford, and Bobbie Teague (WH); sister-in-law, Theresa Martin, and a bunch of nieces and nephews that were special to her.
