Obituary

Mr. F.D. "Rabbit" Royer, 92, of Meldrim, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Molten, Alabama to the late Ennis A. & Rachel McCatherine Royer.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 21 years, Evelyn "Tat" Royer; a daughter, Theresa Elaine Mixon, and brothers, John Howard Royer and J.C. Royer.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Stone Container Corporation.  He was a member of the Meldrim United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing in the Ogeechee River.  He was inducted into the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 for his gift of playing baseball.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marion S. Royer; daughter and son-in-law, Linda & James Stokes; grandchildren, Glenn Stokes (Heidi), Amanda Craun (James) and Robert Mixon (Karen); six great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Greene, Austine Smith and Margie Hodges, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
