Bloomingdale-Mr. Fett "Buddy" Burke, Jr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
Mr. Buddy was born in Sylvania to the late Fett & Bertie Lee Burke, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Burke. He retired from the City of Bloomingdale as well as the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Alpha United Methodist Church, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing and constructing Pinewood Derby Cars, and loved being with his grandchildren. Buddy had a tender heart for the suffering and a sincere love for the Bloomingdale community.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Burke; children, Victor Glenn Burke and his wife, Connie, and Paula Summerlin and her husband, Shannon; grandchildren, Shane, Will, Ben, Josh and Anna Grace; sister, Bobbie "Judy" Lee; sister-in-law, Sally Miller, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday at Alpha United Methodist Church, located at 5 East U.S. Hwy. 80 in Bloomingdale. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
