Richmond Hill - Mr. Floyd or "Husky", as he was more affectionately known, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2010. He was born in Wiergate, Texas and raised in Newton, Texas where he married Billie Jolly King on Christmas Day, 1943. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy in the South Pacific in World War II. Floyd worked for the Pure Oil Company in Nederland, TX for 24 years as a tester in the laboratory. In 1972, he was transferred to Savannah, Georgia and worked there as supervisor over the Lube Blending & Packaging facility for Union Oil until his retirement in 1986. Husky was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He spent many hours in the woods with his hounds, chasing deer, fox, and rabbits with a passion. Few were the times when he didn't own at least two or more beagles. Those who had the pleasure of going on a hunt with him were truly treated to one heck of a good time and a memorable experience. He loved Southern Gospel quartet music, as well as a good Bob Wills or Merle Haggard tune. Husky could jitterbug with the best of them.
He was a member of Savannah Christian Church and formerly attended Westside Christian Church and Bull Street Church of Christ.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Nancy Mann King; one son, Joseph Daniel "Danny" King and his wife, Diana of Fannett, TX; one daughter, Robin King Tucker and her husband Ronald of Pooler; daughter-in-law, Sally King of Pooler; eight grandchildren, (Wendi King Naughtin, Coy King and Morgan King; Jason King and Crystal King Falcon; and Daniel, Matthew, and Sally Kate Tucker). He was also blessed to have 10 great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Helen Tarter of Athens, TX and Geraldine Hines of Newton, TX.
He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Ina Dougharty King; his wife of 60 years, Billie Louise Jolly King; and two of his sons, Charles Wayne King and Thomas Michael King.
