Bloomingdale-Mr. Foster "Pierce" Smith, Jr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Pierce was born in Morgan County to the late Foster Pierce Smith, Sr. and Maggie Lee Daniel Smith. He was a former member and chairman of the deacons at Southside Baptist Church and a current member of Rothwell Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and later in life enjoyed bowling and traveling. He retired from the Georgia Department of Revenue and served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Smith; children, Michael Smith (Roxie), David Smith (Janice), Danny Smith (Arlene) and Patti Mathews; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Brad Smith, Jamie Brannen, Daniel Smith, Christopher Smith, Melissa Turner and Sarah Matthews; great-grandchildren, Cody Smith, Rhiannon Smith, Brayden Turner, Gabriel Brannen, Madyson Smith and Zachary Smith.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Smith's life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Rothwell Baptist Church with Rev. Devin Bell officiating. Mr. Smith's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The graveside funeral and burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison, GA with Rev. Jonathan Long officiating.
