Frances I. Callaway
Rincon - On September 17th at 12:45 pm our beloved wife, sister and mother, Frances I. Callaway went to be with Jesus. She fought a long battle in the hospital and passed away peacefully. Frances was well loved by her community and family. She was 75 years old and was a huge blessing to her family. We cherish every memory of her. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rincon, where she served as WMU director and taught Sunday School for 40 years. She also founded the now present Manna House Ministries. She served as PTA president for many years, starting the Resource room and helping to build up Effingham Middle School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Louis Ivey and Irma Morris Ivey; and her son, Mark Callaway.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Gilbert Callaway; four children, Laura Mesmer (Joe), Peggy Sullivan (Craig), Clifford Callaway (Tash), and Kathi Purvis (David). She is also survived by her sister, Sancil Tabakian (George, Jonathan & Kimberly). She is leaving behind a strong legacy for her 22 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and for all who loved her. Heaven truly gained an angel on Thursday.
