Bloomingdale-Mr. Frank D. Turner, 78, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Memorial Medical University Medical Center.
Mr. Turner was born in Graymont to the late Grady Gnash Turner and Cora Lovins Turner. He was an active member for 46 years at Silk Hope United Methodist Church. His church duties included treasurer for 20 years, Lay Leader and on several occasions he spoke in absence of the pastor. He was employed with Union Camp for 22 years and retired from Mills Construction Company. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and in the Ready Reserves four years after. He was a master carpenter and was a very giving man of his heart and of his time.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Annette Turner of Bloomingdale; three daughters, Fran (Shurman) Harbin of Guyton, Jan (Jerry) Usher of Bloomingdale and Gina (Jack) Davis of Pooler; grandchildren, Regina Strickland, Dennette Mathis, Jerred Usher, Dawna Davis and Tessa Davis; great-grandson, Monnie Strickland and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Silk Hope United Methodist Church located at 5212 Silk Hope Road in Garden City. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery with military honors.
