Freddie Clifford Cannady, 90, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 under the care of Hospice of Savannah. He was the son of George Mellie Cannady and Edna Earl Pughsley Cannady. Freddie was born on July 4, 1923 and raised in Bryan County. Freddie was a Navy veteran that served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. While away at war, he proposed to his childhood sweet heart. Upon his return from the war, he married Eloise Burnsed of Savannah. Freddie worked for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan for several years. He then began a career working for Carlton Company of Savannah and Brunswick, a Caterpillar Tractor Dealership. He retired from Carlton Company and moved to the Black Creek Community.
He is survived by Eloise Burnsed Cannady, his wife of 67 years. Three daughters, Theresa Cannady of Brunswick, Ga. , Dorothy Edwards (Carl) of Pooler, Ga. and Donna Cothron ( Ed) of Treasure Island, Fla. Freddie is also survived by four grandsons, Christopher George, Andrew Brooks, Jason Carter, and Stephen Ingram along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Olive Branch Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 18th from 10:00 until 10:50 a.m. A graveside service will be held after visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the church cemetery located at 55 Heape Road in Ellabell.
