Gary Sidney Harvey of Meldrim, GA passed away on April 18, 2013.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas "Buck" Harvey. He was born November 25, 1942. He served for four years in the National Guard and retired from Kerr-McGee in Savannah. He was a long time member of Meldrim Baptist Church. Gary's family was the center of his life and he loved spending time with them.
Survivors include his mother, Viola Harvey of Meldrim; daughter, Karen Smith and husband Jamie; son, Mike Harvey and wife Melissa of Springfield; brother, Tommy Harvey and wife Rose of Bloomingdale; six grandchildren, Austin, Flint, Ally and Summer Smith, Jake and Jaylen Pevey; three nieces and nephews, Allen Harvey (Jackie), Tina Harvey and Elizabeth Mayo (Matt) as well as several other great nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday at Meldrim Baptist Church with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. The church is located at 229 Ohoopee Avenue. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire, 4710 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404.
