Charles Gary Wendelken died at Riverview Care Center in Savannah on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Gary was born in Savannah on February 17, 1935, to Charles Raymond & Mamie Robinson Wendelken.

When he was six, Gary's mother passed away. Later Miss Frocene & Mr Cohen Kessler welcomed him

into their home, becoming positive influences. He attended schools in Savannah & Effingham County,

graduating from Rincon High School in 1953 as class president & valedictorian. His career included

working for "the railroad" in Savannah, New Orleans, & Chicago. One of Gary's most impressive gifts

was playing the piano by ear. His repertoire counted into the hundreds of remembered melodies.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ray, sister Ramona, sister Sandra, & brother

Mike, and niece Kathy. His survivors include his brother Randy & wife Sheryl; nieces Linda W & husband Skylar Harwell,

Marci Wendelken & husband Paul Wenston; sister-in-law Betty C Wendelken; sister Beverly & husband

Greg Smithy; nephew Jamie Smith; and grand-nephew Wendel & wife Laura Harwell.

There will be no formal funeral service. Gary's family will inter his cremains at Goshen Cemetery in

Rincon.
