Gassiway Horace Berry
Springfield – Gassiway Horace Berry, 92, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Effingham Hospital.
The Effingham County native was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the GA Salzaburger Society, and the Sons of the American Revolution Moss Creek Chapter. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Major and was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gassiway Hallman Berry and Sarah Jane Reisser Berry.
Survivors include his son, Ronald Berry (Penny); daughter, Andrea Jayne Kornblue (Edwin); grandchildren, Dawn Berry Walker (Steve), Brandon Berry Kornblue (Drea), and Paige Kornblue Hunter (Andrew); great-grandsons, Ty and Bryson Kornblue; sister, Amelia Herrington.
Visitation will be 9 – 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with memorial services following at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery.
