Geneva Mallard Brown
Rincon – Geneva Mallard Brown, 93, loving wife of 61 years and widow of William C. Brown, passed away August 5, 2017 at Effingham Care Center.
Born in Screven County June 13, 1924, to the late B. Franklin Mallard, and the late Hattie Godbee Mallard. Geneva grew up on Millhaven Plantation where her father was the caretaker. She was married to W. C. Brown for 61 years and raised her three children in Port Wentworth. Geneva was a member of the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. She worked at the Shipyard during WWII and later worked at JC. Penney in the Shoe Department for many years until retirement. She loved to cook, garden, and camp with their retired friends. For the last 13 years she has lived with her son in Rincon and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended New Life Worship Center with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Danny W. Brown, and her brother, Leondias Mallard, and sisters, Fredalee Rahn, Hattie Mae Barton, Annie Pearl Rahn, and Margaurite Carter.
Surviving are her son, Randy A. Brown and wife Marsha, and her daughter, Linda Gail Salter. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wallace Holland and his staff for the excellent care they gave her. Also, they would like to thank everyone at the Effingham Care Center for the love and compassion they showed Ma and the whole family.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Randy Nease officiating. Pallbearers will be Jody Brown, Randy Sapp, Jeff Presley, Vitor Batista, Jimmy Davis, and Jesse Collins.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West.
