Obituary

U.S. Navy Retired Lt. George W. Bennett, Sr., 92, of Isle of Hope, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at The Oaks at Pooler.

George was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late William and Agnes Bennett.  He retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service, 12 of those years as a pilot.  After retirement he was employed with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller for 20 years as well as flying for several aviation companies.  He enjoyed flying and piddling/volunteering on the golf course for the past 30 years.  His favorite thing to do was gathering with family.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Cox Bennett; children, George W. "Butch" Bennett, Jr. (Debbie Cotney Bennett aka "Angel"), John C. Bennett (Karen Howard Bennett aka "Goddess"), and Mariana Mia Bennett; grandchildren, William R. Bennett (Sveta M. Bennett), Caroline Bennett, Thomas W. Davis (Cheyenne), Daniel W. Davis (Heather), Brittany B. Hall, Kara M. Bunch (Michael), and Megan E. Barnwell; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Daya, Avery, Mason, Wesley, Riley, Kooper, and one on the way; brother, Glen Bennett (Sue); half-brother, Gary Tebeau, and thousands of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
