George B. Harris
Hinesville – George B. Harris, 88, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at his residence.
The New Jersey native served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served as a special investigator for the Camden New Jersey Sheriff's Department and retired from the Haddon Township Police Department. He was a member of the Hinesville Masonic Lodge #271 F. & A.M., the Alee Temple Legion of Honor, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Scottish Rite, and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford Harris and Emily Middleton Harris, and son, Guy Hallowell.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Harris of Hinesville; children, Michael Harris of Gulfport, FL, Richard Harris of Pennsauken, NJ, Theresa Harris of Gulfport, NJ, Karen Certo of Pine Hill, NJ, Nancy Proctor of Jackson, NJ, and Barry Hallowell of Guyton; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the chapel.
Interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at GA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
Remembrances may be given to the Morris Slotin Fund, c/o the Alee Shriners, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416.
