Springfield – George Mark "Mac" Weitman, 69, passed away September 5, 2022 in his home after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Mac grew up in Springfield, GA and then moved to Atlanta, GA after college.  He worked as a sales representative with Unisource for over 40 years.  After retirement he moved back to Springfield, GA.  Mac attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he was an active member serving on church council, various committees and leading bible studies.  Mac headed up the first Responders and Springfield Elementary School staff luncheons and volunteered with the Back Pack Buddies.  He served in the GA Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Doris Weitman.

Survivors include his sister, Beverly Evans (Mike); brother, Gary Weitman (Dixie); and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home, 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 N. Laurel Street, Springfield, GA 31329.

Burial will be private.
