Savannah/Rincon-Mr. George Curtis Parmer, 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 21,
2009 at Summer Breeze Assisted Living Home on Wilmington Island.
Mr. Parmer was born in Monroe County, Alabama and retired from Union Camp after 38
years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances C. Parmer as well as
his second wife, Annie Ruth Hartzog Parmer. He was a member of the Ogeechee River
Hunting Club and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the
Phillipines where upon his Honorable Discharge he received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his children, Ann Parker (Billy) of Snellville, GA; Linda Averett (Ray
Telfor) of Pooler, Lana Harvey (Leroy) of Wilmington Island and Charles Hartzog (Ava)
of Springfield; grandchildren, Lynn McClintock, Kathy McIntosh, Johnny Parker, Gid
Smith, David Parker, Josh McIntosh, Shannon Spell, Eric Hartzog, Sonia Kessler and
Brian Hartzog; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lilla Robinson, Willonese Walker and
Annette Croley, all of Alabama and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at
Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on Bonaventure Road in Savannah with military honors.
