George Phillip (Phil) Hatfield of Springfield passed away October 16, 2020 at the age of 59.

Phil was born in Savannah on July 13, 1961. He attended Effingham County Schools and was a 1979 graduate of Effingham County High School. Phil began work at International Paper in 1979 and remained until 2009. He also worked for Weyerhaeuser, Georgia Pacific, and NFI Industries. Phil was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George W and Evelyn K Hatfield, and a niece, Crystal Rahn.

He is survived by his wife Carmen Hatfield; mother Virginia Hatfield; sisters Kay Sandt (Dale) and Susan Yawn; nieces Jennifer Rahn, Sabrina Westenbarger (Adam), and Greta Combs; nephews Edwin "Bubba" Rahn and Patrick Yawn (Carrie); as well as several great nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be observed by the family.
