Obituary
Eden-Mr. George Romaine Richert, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016.
Mr. George was born in Savannah to the late Russell Romaine & Lola Leigh Thompson Richert. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimla Aileen Richert. He was an active member of Sand Hill Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, and retired from Union Camp (Woodyard) after 33 years of service. Most of all, he loved and cherished spending time with his best friends, Jerry, Tracey, Mike, Gunny, and Elbert.
Survivors include his wife, Atha Maude Tapley Richert; two daughters, April & Albert Cory, and Karen & Shane Fowler; grandchildren, Taylor & Shane Sokolik, Morgan Fowler, Mitchell Fowler, and Madeleine Fowler; great-grandchildren, Athena Sokolik, and Nora Fowler as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral will be on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Sand Hill Baptist Church located at 1936 Sand Hill Road in Effingham County. Mr. George will lie in state from 2-3 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Remembrances may be given to the Sand Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1936 Sand Hill Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
