Rincon – George Anthony Saraf, 84, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 surrounded by his family at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

The Chatham County native graduated from Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA prior to serving in the United States Navy and retiring from Gulfstream Aerospace. He was a devoted member of his community as a Rincon city councilman from 1982-1983, Mayor from 1984-1985 and 1994-2005. He took pride in the work he was able to accomplish and the relationships he established.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Nell Saraf; his parents George A. and Mary G. Saraf; and brother Philip Saraf.

Survivors include his daughters Tina Verrier (Richard) and Theresa Saraf; grandchildren Amanda Barrow (David), Kara Parrish (Scotty), Jason Verrier (Nikki), Garrett Verrier (Kendall), Justin Verrier (Meghann), Matthew Verrier (Nick), Nicholas Verrier (Jessica); great-grandchildren Walker, Wyatt, Emerson, Easton, Avery, Harper Verrier, Lexie and Macie Thompson, Sullivan Parish; siblings Phyllis Tabakian, Mary Ann Fischer, Rose Tootle, Antoinette Kastensmidt, Iris Smith, Antoine Saraf and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 2PM to 4PM followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel.
