Guyton-Mr. George E. Shepard, 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home after battling many medical issues.
George was born in Derby, CT on January 3, 1944 to the late Alice & Harry Shepard, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Shepard, Jr.. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. George owned his own lawn care business, was the owner/operator of G.E.S. Construction, Inc. where he built homes, kitchen cabinets for his wife and daughter, and also built a staircase for his daughter's home. George had numerous talents, including building a race car for his son-in-law, Bryan. He drove a truck for several years and made the million mile mark. He also received numerous awards for his safe driving from Sun Oil Co. for 7 years and Shell Oil Co. for 13 years. He also drove for Valley Trucking & Rigging. He was a very caring and loving husband who always put his family first. He would help anyone that needed it and was a friend to all. He always tried to instill to his grandchildren to reach for the stars, that you can do anything you set your mind to, and never say you can't do it. He also taught his children not to go and buy things when you can make it yourself. He was always making things in his workshop, always very busy and active.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Timms Shepard of Guyton; daughters, Dawn Shepard of CT and Sharlene Czajkowski, and her husband, Bryan, of Georgia; grandchichildren, Brittany, Isis Lily, George, Gideon, and Bryton (Hot Mess).
The visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church located at 121 Noel C. Conaway Road in Effingham County with the memorial service to follow at 7 p.m.
