Rincon – Gertrude Zipperer Kessler, 98, passed away July 5, 2024 at Pruitt Health Seaside.

The Effingham County native was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a Sunday School Teacher.  She retired from Rincon Elementary School Cafeteria.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, Atlanta Braves Baseball, and taking care of her son, Billy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Ella Lynch Zipperer; and 3 brothers, Norwood, Mallie, and Monroe Zipperer.

She is survived by her son Billy Kessler; niece, Patricia Groover; nephew, Lamon Zipperer; and a special friend, Carolyn Warner.

A special thanks to Jimmy Helmly, Ken Thompson, and her hospice nurse, Cindy Hormel.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024 at Bible Lutheran Church Cemetery.
