Mr. Getys U. "Red" Davis
Pooler-Mr. Getys U. "Red" Davis died peacefully Saturday, September 29, 2007 at
Hospice Savannah.
He was born in Guyton, Georgia, August 26, 1927 to John U. Davis and Amy Lee Clifton
Davis. From the age of eleven he lived at the Bethesda Home for Boys with his brothers.
Upon becoming of age he joined the U.S. Navy and received and honorable discharge.
He retired from Union Camp after forty-three years. He was an avid hunter and a
member of the Laurel View Hunting Club. A fifty-five year resident of Pooler he
attended the Trinity United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of Pooler.
Getys was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Frances Clark Davis, and his
second wife, Sadie Evelyn Crews Davis.
Getys is survived by his wife, Mary Davis; two brothers, Clifton Davis (Myrtice) of
Pooler and Raymond Davis (Earline) of Shellman's Bluff; four children, Linda Hawk
(Richard) of Pine Harbor, Paulette McDermott of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary Davis of
Savannah and Amy Clayton (Ronnie) of Hiram. He also leaves behind seven
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler on Monday,
October 1, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
Graveside service on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Greenwich Cemetery.
