Pooler - Mrs. Gladys Shuman, 83, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah on July 7, 2010.

Mrs. Shuman was a native to Bulloch County and has lived in Pooler for the past 50 years. She was a long time employee and retiree of the Savannah Morning News. She was a lifetime member of Lawrence Baptist Church in Bulloch County. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Caryn S. Davis and son Jerry C. Shuman.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John O. Shuman of Pooler; son's, Eric Thonnessen, of Athens, Kenny Shuman of Savannah, and Johnny Shuman of Bulloch County; eight grandchildren, Lisa Shuman, Craig Shuman, William Davis, Rusty Shuman, Brian Shuman, Lief Thonnessen, Nathaniel Thonnessen, Micah Thonnessen; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Bill Black officiating and the pallbearers being William Davis, Larry Cribbs, Timothy Shuman, Craig Shuman, and Paul Pollett. Burial will follow at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County.
