Rev. Gordon Bernard Dukes, Jr. (Butch), 77, passed away on May 29th at Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Gordon graduated from Emory University with a Masters, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam, served as a Methodist Minister for 40 years and a Chaplain for several fire departments and was a Mason.  He will be dearly missed.

He is predeceased by his parents, Gordon Bernard Dukes, Sr. and Louise Drawdy Dukes; sister, Margaret Dukes "Peggy"; and half-brother,  Jimmy McCullough.

Survivors include his wife, Reta B. Woods; son, Gordon Bernard Dukes, III "Sonny"; step-daughters, Jessica Espinosa and Tara Bilyeu (James); 5 grandchildren, Evan, Emery, Shelby, Ethan, and Willie; mother-in-law, Shirley H. Woods; sister, Patricia Strickland (Billy); nephew, Rev. William Allen Strickland, Jr. "Chip" (Tristan) and several other nieces and nephews.

Gordon's wishes were to be cremated.  A private celebration of life will be at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Port Wentworth Methodist Church or to a Veteran's organization of your choice.
