Grady Charles "Coach Charlie" Decatur Holt
Rincon – Grady Charles "Coach Charlie" Decatur Holt, 52, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Effingham Hospital.
The Effingham County native was a member of Countryside Baptist Church and was employed with EFACEC. He coached for the Effingham County Recreation Department for over 33 years, was inducted into the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame, was a member of the Coastal GA Umpire Association, and was a former member of the Oakridge Athletic Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Roosevelt Holt; and sister, Sherry Stembridge.
Survivors include his wife of over 31 years, Selina King Holt of Rincon; children, Grady Charles Dewitt Holt "Little Charlie" (Laura) of Columbus, OH, Christopher Ryan Holt (Heather) of Guyton, and Trista Leigh Holt of Rincon; grandchildren, Charlie Olin Holt of Columbus, OH, Braelyn Lyla Holt and Rylan Decatur Holt both of Guyton; his mother, Vera Holt of Guyton; sisters, Rita Blocker (David) of South Carolina, Janice (Hollis) Howell and Mary (Johnnie) Melvin both of Guyton; brothers, Richard M. (Lisa) Holt and James C. (Sandy) Holt both of Guyton; brother-in-law, Johnnie Stembridge of Savannah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Countryside Baptist Church at the corner of Hwy. 30 and Nease Rd.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Countryside Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
