Ms. Gwendolyn L. "Gwen" Jenkins, age 85, of Pooler, formerly of Lenoir, NC, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017. Ms. Jenkins was a member of Central Baptist Church in Pooler, GA. A native of Lenoir, she worked for over 40 years in various textile mills in Lenoir and Hickory where she also drove a school bus and cooked in the lunchroom in Haywood County in the 1970's.
She was preceded in death by sons, David Baker and Dwight Baker; granddaughter, April Todd; grandsons, Randall Hodge and Ernest Punch, Jr.; and great-great-granddaughter, Victoria Brannen.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Punch of Pooler, GA; son, Bob (Linda) Baker of Bessemer City, NC; eleven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with remains to lie in state at 12:00. Entombment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
