Eden-Mr. Harl H. "Butch" Scott, 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Mr. Butch was born in Statesboro to the late Harl H. Scott, Sr. & Molly Ryder Scott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Hagan Scott, and a sister, Joyce Haywood. He served his country in the U.S. Navy – Submarine Service, and retired from the National Elevator Industry. He was a deacon at Powers Baptist Church and served on various committees in Effingham County.
Survivors include his children, Leigh & Alan Sumner, Jon & Teresa Scott, and Elaine & Billy Driggers, Jr.; grandchildren, Heather & Joseph Herrin, Emily Scott, Blaine Driggers, David Scott and Andrew Driggers; sisters, Carol Hodges, Linda Sikes, and Martha Feisc; brothers, Mack Scott and Jimmy Scott as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2016 from 2 until 3:30 p.m. at Powers Baptist Church located at 1104 U.S. Hwy. 80 in Eden. The funeral will follow in the sanctuary at 3:30 p.m. with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
