Obituary

Savannah-Mr. Harlan "Bubba" Boykin, Jr. passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Mr. Boykin was born in Savannah to the late Harlan W. Boykin, Sr. and Frances H. Boykin. He retired as Captain with the Savannah Fire Department. He was a communicant of St. Peter's the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Thunderbolt Masonic Lodge # 693. He loved to hunt, fish and was always available to help family or friends. He never met a stranger and was well loved by one and all.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Boykin; children, Fran & Bill Hodder, Harlan Willis Boykin, III and Eddie Boykin; grandchildren, Jessica Hodder, Mason Boykin and Dylan Boykin.
The visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Boykin's life was at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the chapel of the funeral home with Monsignor James Costigan officiating. Active pallbearers were Steven Greene, Matthew Scarpitti, Brad Waugh, Chris Fogarty, Glen Brantley and Craig Hillis. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Savannah Fire Department. Burial followed at the Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be given to St. Peter's the Apostle Catholic Church, 7020 Concord Road, Savannah, GA 31410 or to the American Diabetes Association, 5105 Paulsen Street, Suite C236, Savannah, GA 31405.
