Harold Marvin Arrington
GUYTON – Harold M. Arrington, 82, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home under Compassionate Care Hospice with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Wrens GA to Marcus and Lois Pennington Arrington on September 2, 1934. He moved to Port Wentworth GA in 1943 with his family. He attended schools in Chatham County. He later went into the U.S. Navy serving 1952-55, serving as a gun mounter on USS Saint Paul, serving his country in the Korean War. He earned his Korean Service Metal, among others.
He lived in California a short time before returning to Georgia. Later on he worked in auto body shops in the Savannah area before starting his own at home, before expanding and moving to Rincon Ga, where it is still in operation and managed/owned by his son Mark.
He was a member of North Salem Baptist Church. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 76 and was baptized by Rev. Philip Hudson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him
He is preceded in death besides his parent, son Arthur Arrington, brother Raymond Arrington, brother in law Leonard Butler, sister in law Elizabeth Arrington.
Harold will be sadly missed by his wife Diane Haupt Arrington, son Mark (Hope) Arrington, daughters Alyse Arrington, Pam (Glynn) Brown, Tammy Fernandez all of Guyton, daughter in law Lisa Arrington of Missouri, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons. He is also survived by a sister Shirley A. Butler of Guyton GA and brother Allen Arrington of Atlanta GA. One uncle, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank their loving caretakers and friends, Paulina Jones and Diana Lilly for the love and help they gave us day and night. Also to Compassionate Care Hospice of Pooler, the CNA's, nurses, social worker and Chaplin, they were all amazing and caring.
Visitation will be a Strickland's in Effingham Saturday, April 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 9, 2:00PM at North Salem Baptist Church, 955 GA Hwy 30, Port Wentworth GA. with Rev. Philip Hudson and Rev. Clifford Coursey officiating.
Burial to follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens on Hwy 119 in Springfield GA.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to GLOW Ministries, P.O. Box 2573, Rincon GA. 31326.
