Mr. Harold Eugene Oliver, Jr.

Harold (Gene) Oliver, 72, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy Mack Oliver; sister, Irma (Cecil) Jones of Dillion, Montana; two step-sons, Dereall (Laura) Joyner and Dana (Sharon) Joyner, both of Bloomingdale, Georgia; four grandchildren, Cortney, Baily, Buford and Jonathan; five great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; his fur baby, Bella Sunshine.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Oliver, Sr. and Dorothy Bradham Oliver of Cobbtown, Georgia; a sister, Anita Oliver; grandparents, Eugene and Omi Oliver of Cobbtown, Georgia and Ab and Henrietta Bradham of Reidsville, Georgia.

Gene was born in Albany, Georgia and had lived in Bloomingdale, Georgia for a number of years.  Gene was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture and he also had worked at National Resources Conservation Service.  In the early 1980's he was employed by the U.S. Forest Service where he worked at the Wildland Firefighter Helitac Crew in McCall, Idaho.

He was always an excellent student and received a National Meritt Scholarship where he attended Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts for two years.  He also attended the University of Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Environmental Science.

The visitation will be on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Lifespring Worship Center located at 1105 U.S. Highway 80 in Bloomingdale, Georgia.  The memorial service to honor Gene's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
