Obituary

Harold "Thomas" White, 84, of Garden City/Richmond Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 16, 2018.  Thomas was born in Lake Park, GA, on October 10, 1933, to the late James and Ruby White.  Thomas was the second youngest sibling of six children.  All of his siblings preceded him in death.  Thomas was married to Stella White for 64 years until her death in January 2017.  On the night that Thomas met Stella, he knew she was the girl of his dreams.  He asked, that very night, if she would like to become Mrs. White.  Thomas loved Stella with all his heart and soul.  He was happy driving her to the mall, sitting on the bench, and people watching.  Since her death, Thomas has looked with great anticipation for the day when the Lord would call him home.  Thomas said, "One of these days it is gonna all be over and I will see Him (Jesus) face to face and thank Him.  But Stella beat me to it!"  Thomas loved to work.  He worked for Roger Bridge Company as a crane operator for 37 years.  The family moved many times due to his work requirements.  They lived in Lake Park, Tunnel Hill, Richmond Hill, Brunswick, and Garden City.  After retirement, Thomas worked with his son, Roy, and then as a greeter at WalMart.  Thomas loved to talk to people.  He moved to Richmond Hill in 2016 to be in the care of his family.  Thomas was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Garden City, since 2000.  He served as a deacon and loved the people of Central Baptist.  He always had a pocket full of candy each Sunday, and took pride in giving it to children and adults!  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  He was an avid fisherman, always looking for a new place to fish.  He loved to cook BBQ for the entire family, hosting lots of family dinners.  He loved to drive his tractor.

Survivors include two sons: David White and his wife Pam of Guyton, Roy White and his wife Cindy of Richmond Hill, two daughters: Cathy Saxon and her husband Chris of Tillman, SC, and Lynn Mayer of Pooler.  Thomas, affectionately called "Pepa," is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: Christy White of Richmond Hill and children Emma and Evan; Staci Renfro and her husband Alex of Guyton and son Kale; Kevin White and his wife Angelina of Richmond Hill and children Caleb and Ryan; Jennifer Mayer of Staten Island, New York, and children Anthony, Brooklyn, and Gianna; Christopher Handy and his wife Amy of Savannah and son Jackson; Jamie Mayer of Pooler; Danielle Arnold and her husband Micheal of Pooler and children Mason and Maddox.

A special thank you to Pastor Kenny Harrelson and the congregation of Central Baptist Church for the love for not only Thomas, but for all the extended family and friends.  Also to Mike Denny and Patty Parrish for the special encouragement and love towards Thomas.
