Harry E. "Bootsie" Lindsey
Clyo- Harry E. "Bootsie" Lindsey, 82, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Effingham County native was a 1953 Guyton High School graduate and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, member of the choir and a past president of the Church Council. He was a retired forester from Union Camp with 34 years of service and had served 20 years in the 165th Georgia Air National Guard. Bootsie had served a term as County Commissioner, served 20 years as a member of the Effingham County Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of the Guyton Masonic Lodge.
He loved his family, gardening and making cane syrup. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Ivie Lindsey; brother, Charles Lindsey; sister, Ruby Smith; and grandson, Carl Grovenstein.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Emmie Lindsey; daughters, Cindy Grovenstein (Mike), Jean Shuman (Tim), and Harriett Snooks (Steven); sisters, Louise Yarbrough (Donald), Peggy Denney, Penny Miller (Chris); sister-in-law, Gloria Lindsey; grandchildren, Lindsey Zittrouer (Jeremy), Lauren Shuman, Caleb Grovenstein, Emily Burnside (Ryan), Joseph Snooks (Shelby), Landon Snooks (Cierra), and Anna Snooks; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Claire, and Harper Zittrouer, Hollis Burnside, and John Ashley Snooks; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1-3 pm Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Funeral: 3 pm Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Interment: Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
