Harry E. Hart, Jr. (Gene)
Guyton – Harry E. Hart, Jr. (Gene), 75 passed away August 8, 2017 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. Hart, Sr. and Frances H. Hart; and a brother, Paul Hart.
Mr. Hart retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and started a full time business of his own, H.E. Hart, Inc., which he ran until his sickness.
He served in the 165th Air Guard from 1963 – 1969 and attended Abraham Baldwin College for 2 years.
He was very involved in 4 H and FFA. He was a master 4 H'er and won state in FFA. He has served as an advisor for FFA. He also has held the position of President for Marlow Farm Bureau and Effingham County Farm Bureau.
He served as a county commissioner from 1987 – 1990. He is a current member of Young Farmers and was on the nominating committee for Planters Telephone.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons, Michael Hart, Ronnie Hart, and Richard Strickland; one sister, Pat Nutting; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
