Pooler-Mr. Harvey Avilon Royal, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home under the care of Hospice of Savannah and Visiting Angels. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Delia, Katrina, Darcy, and Ashley.
He was born on July 26, 1923 in Millen, GA to the late Otis & Lillian Royal. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, son, Clifton, and brothers, H.O. Royal and Walter Royal. He was co-owner of Royal Plumbing Company of Hilton Head Island. A lifelong plumber with Local 188, a plumbing inspector with the City of Pooler, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Rothwell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Gloria (Dennis) Temples; son, Michael (Cathy) Royal; daughter-in-law, Patricia Royal; grandchildren, Darrell (Janet) Royal, Chad Temples, Hollie Temples, Clay Royal, Matt (Katherine) Royal, John Taylor (Maggie) Royal; great-grandchildren, Reese and Cooper Temples; special friend, Mary Smith; brothers, Elbert (Dot) Royal, and Larry (B.Ann) Royal; sister, Hattie Jane (Joe) Allen; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West.
