Mrs. Helen Louise Asbell, 96, of Meldrim, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at The Oaks at Pooler.

Helen was born in Garrett, KY to the late Albert Layne, Sr. & Emma Hamilton Layne.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, George W. Asbell, Sr., a great-granddaughter, Stacy D. Atkinson, a sister, Stella Wilkes, and two brothers, Albert Layne, Jr. and Walter Layne.  She was a member of Meldrim United Methodist Church and the owner of Helen's Hobbies.

Survivors include her children, John A. Atkinson, Jr. (Rene) and Deborah J. Richardson; grandchildren, Jamie C. Atkinson (Lisa), Mitzi Salter (Kenny), and Stanley Grace; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth Layne (Deloris) and Thelma Goodman (Roy), as well as several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m.  The funeral will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 am. with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
