Helen W. Grizzard,71 , of Bloomingdale and wife of Ernest Cohen Grizzard, Sr., died Friday, December 4, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
Born in Okeechobee, Florida on June 3, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Demmie Watterson. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Christian Church. Mrs. Grizzard loved spending time with family and was especially fond of her grandchildren who knew her as "Nanny".
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Cohen Grizzard, Sr.; her daughter, Ruby LeBeau; her sons, Ernest Cohen Grizzard, Jr. and his wife, Sharon and Ray Shane Grizzard and his wife, Melissa; an honorary daughter, Lynda Arpin and her husband, Jimmy; her brother, James Watterson; her sister, Meredith Watterson; her grandchildren, James David Gay, Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, Cohen Grizzard, and his fiancé, Jessica, Cory Grizzard, Shane Matthew Grizzard, and Autumn Grizzard; an honorary grandson Humberto Guerrero; her great-granddaughter, Mayra Gay, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-6p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The memorial service will be 6p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home.
