Helen Boatright Samples, age 89, of Pooler, passed away February 19, 2017. Helen was a native of Emanuel County, and lived in Chatham County since 1948. She retired from Union Camp after 25 years of service. She was a long-time member of Rothwell Baptist Church and Fellowship Sunday School Class. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Samples, her daughter, Bonnie McCranie and son-in-law, Dennis McCrainie, and her parents, Tom and Hedy Boatright. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Samples, of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Boatright, of Bloomingdale; sister, Frances Hawes, of Perkins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2017, 11:00 AM at Strickland Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel. Rev. Devin Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West.
