Bloomingdale- Henry Melvin Westberry, 83, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Effingham Care Center.
The Evans County native was owner of Westberry's Lawn Service for 35 plus years. He had also worked for 7 years in maintenance at South University, 11 years at Roger Wood Packing Company, and for Dr. Billy Moore, Veterinarian in Metter, GA. Mr. Henry was a past deacon at Westside Christian Church, but a member now at Central Baptist Church. He was a member for 25 plus years of the Woodmen of the World Society, where he installed the Woodmen flag poles all over southeast Georgia. He was a past member of the Bloomingdale Lions Club. Mr. Henry loved to barbeque and loved woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Ruby Dell Cox Westberry, and brothers & sisters, Almon, Homer, Ervin, Walter Westberry, Emmie Dell Holland, and Vennie Rae Bruner.
He is survived by his wife, Nioma B. Westberry; six daughters, Dorothy Andrews (Charles), Lynn Buck (James), Cathy Hutchinson (Randy), Faye Bradley (John), Brenda Russell (Stan), and Pamela Melvine Stokes (Kevin); a sister, Beatrice Braddox; a brother, William T. Westberry; grandchildren, April (Rob) & David Andrews, James Buck, III (BJ), Michael & Chris Hutchinson, Sarah & Justin Bradley, Emily Russell Plumley (Steven), Clifton Douglas Stokes (Melinda); great-grandson, Jayden; great-granddaughter, Kinzley Raine Stokes; God son, Chris Talley; and beloved dogs, Kandi and Foxy.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home - West Chatham Chapel.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home - West Chatham Chapel.
Interment: Brewton Cemetery in Hagan.
Remembrances: Central Baptist Church of Garden City or Effingham Care Center Activities Fund.
