Rincon – Hilda Ann Hammock Claxton, 71, passed away June 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's after a long illness. .
The Chatham County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and member of the Fidelis Woman's Sunday School Class. She was retired from Memorial Health as a medical transcriptionist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Joseph and Lessie Hall Hammock and her brother Carlton Hammock.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas Claxton of Rincon; sons, Duane (Laney) Claxton and Keith (Theresa) Claxton all of Savannah; grandchildren, Kendall Claxton, Karlye Claxton and David Claxton. Siblings, Jean Donnelly, Helen House, and Hazel Singleton; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Billye Hammock.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Thomas Strickland Funeral Home on Highway 21 in Rincon followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the care givers at the offices of Dr. George Negrea and Dr. James A. Meadows III for their care during her illness.
