Bloomingdale-Mr. Homer Ray Johnson, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Captolla, GA to the late Elijah T. & Mamie Mock Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, C.E. Johnson, and sisters, Gladys Seigler, Emily Jo Green, Betty Johnson, and Elizabeth Johnson. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Higher Call Builders. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired from Union Camp after 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, coaching his children in recreation sports, and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patty Johnson of Bloomingdale; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry & Marcia Johnson of Bryon, Bryan & Wilma Johnson of Guyton, and Barry & Carey Johnson of Faulkville; daughter, Cheryl Girvin of Savannah; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, James & Cheryl Johnson of Guyton and Mikell & Charlotte Johnson of Rincon; sisters, Mary & Gunny Prescott and Barbara Burke; sister-in-law, Florrie Johnson; brother-in-law, Aubrey Green, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 12 noon on Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Powers Baptist Church Cemetery.
