Mr. Homer Dwight Swindell, 86, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Hospice Savannah.
Mr. Swindell was born in Savannah, Georgia and was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin D. and Marian Sharpe Swindell. He was a 1956 graduate of Savannah High School and served his country in the National Guard for eleven years and was a member of Chatham Artillery. He retired after 32 years of service from Delta Air Lines and was a member of the Delta Pioneers. He was a member of Rothwell Baptist Church, and enjoyed watching both the Atlanta Braves and GA Bulldogs. He will be remembered most for loving his savior, Jesus Christ, and for loving his family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty B. Swindell; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Woodyard (Ron); son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Swindell (Lynda); grandchildren, Russell Woodyard, Michael Woodyard, Lauren Daniels, Bryce Swindell, Tyler Swindell, Sarah Swindell, and Emily Swindell; great-grandchildren, Taegan Woodyard, Evie Woodyard, Owen Woodyard, and Harrison Daniels.
The visitation will be on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral to honor Mr. Swindell's life will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be given to Rothwell Baptist Church, 216 Rothwell Street, Pooler, GA 31322.
