Rincon – Hubert Ray "Hugh" Summers, 70, passed away April 29, 2016 at Effingham Hospital.
The Columbus, GA native served in the U.S. Air Force as a Combat Medic in Vietnam and retired after 22 years. He then worked as a Risk Manager for Columbus, GA, Savannah, GA, and West Palm Beach, FL where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Pelham Summers; brother, John Edward Summers; and sister, Marie Hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Delane Summers; sons, Andrew Summers of Jacksonville, FL and Gregory Summers (Wendy) of Pooler; grandchildren, Jacqueline Schram (Matthew), Amber Summers, Joshua Summers, Leilani Fiatoa, and Derrick Fiatoa (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Damon Schram, Maddox Amelia Summers, Andrew Fiatoa, Ailey Fiatoa, Taylee Fiatoa, and McKinley Fiatoa; brother, Donald Leon Summers (Sharron) of Southport, FL.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at GA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 U.S. Hwy. 301, Glennville, GA 30427.
