Mr. Hugh D. Maltby
Garden City/Port Wentworth-Mr. Hugh D. Maltby, 88, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008
at his residence at Savannah Summit at 135 Hampstead Avenue.
Mr. Maltby was born in Garfield, GA and had lived in the Garden City/Port Wentworth
area for over 50 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Operating
Engineers Local # 187. He was employed with Steel Erectors and later retired after a
long time employment from Builders Transport. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Ralph & Lillie Bell Maltby, his wife, Ann J. Maltby, daughter, Helen D. Maltby, son,
Hugh D. "Bubba" Maltby, Jr., brothers, George, Roy, Curtis and Thomas Maltby, a
brother-in-law, Bernon Johnson and his former wife, Mattie M. Maltby.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joann & Drexel Adams of Richmond
Hill and Traci & Tony Story of Oak Park; son and daughter-in-law, Howard & Mona
Sikes of Midway; grandchildren, Tony & Lillian Adams, Jr., Steve & Janet Adams, Amy
Wall, Kelley Maltby, Corey Sikes, Tony & Kelly Story, II, Christie M. Howard, April &
Greg Kinard, Justin Story and Bryce Story; ten great-grandchildren; one
great-great-granddaughter; sister, Jeanette M. Johnson of Garfield; brother and
sister-in-law, Billy R. & Sarah Maltby of Lugoff, SC and a number of nieces, nephews,
cousins and many friends who will all miss him very much.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Graveside Funeral: 2 p.m. on Friday at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in
Garfield.
