Mrs. Irene Tyner Avila, 95, of Pooler, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her home.
The Savannah native was a homemaker and one of the first librarians in Pooler. She was a loving mother and an exceptionally wonderful "Babba" (Grandmother). She loved quilting, was an avid reader and read until Alex Trebek came on for Jeopardy. She loved her many Chihuahuas, leaving behind her very sad "Mitzie". She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William "Bill" Avila.
She is survived by her daughter, Toni (Dozier) Cook; son, William J. "Bud" (Jan) Avila; grandchildren, Christopher D. Cook, Carla (Brian) Dooley, Anthony A. (Alissa) Cook, Katy Avila and Jonathan F. Avila; great-grandchildren, John Kyle Varnedoe, Jaden C. Cook, Addeline M. Dooley, Davis B. Dooley, Isobel Zeigler, Emil G. Cook, Eva B. Cook, and one little baby Cook on the way.
The family will have a private funeral and burial for Mrs. Irene.
