Savannah-Mrs. Irene T. Smith, 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Irene was born in Register, GA to the late John & Elizabeth Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Smith. She was a charter member of Savannah Christian Church and was a homemaker. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed cooking but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Bobbye Underwood, Beverly Emmett (Stephen), and Deborah Johnson-Moone; grandchildren, Karyne Underwood, Kevin Underwood, Kettredge Underwood, Shane Emmett, and Shelby Barrs; a number of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Macy Barrow; brother, Freddie Tucker, and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The graveside funeral and burial will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah.
