Iris Kight Sikes
Springfield- Iris Kight Sikes, 84 died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Effingham Extended Care Facility.
The Johnson County native had been a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield since 1951 and had taught nursery Sunday School for many years. She retired from the Effingham Board of Education where she worked in food service for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Layton Sikes; two grandsons, Jason Sikes and Stephen Shurling; parents, Amos G. & Minnie Tyson Kight; and brothers, J. Hilton, Amos Louie, and Edwin Preston Kight.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Ricky Shurling of Stilson, and Teresa and Wendell Jaudon of Springfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell and Colleen Sikes of Palm Coast, FL and Dennis Sikes of Springfield; a sister, Ruby K. Deloach of Springfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, C. Murray and Rachel Kight of Springfield, J. Oliff and Maxie Kight of Dillard, and Cora Kight of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6 -8 pm Thursday, July 28, 2011 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 am Friday, July 29, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Burial: Springfield Cemetery Annex
