Springfield: Isabell Altman Williamson, 92, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Effingham Health Care Center in Springfield, Georgia. Isabell was born May 26, 1922 to Leonard and Arthea Altman in Baxley, Georgia where she lived most of her life. On June 23, 1942, she married G. E. Williamson and together they worked the family farm and lovingly raised their three children. She spent her life in service to God and her family, many years faithfully caring for her husband who suffered from Alzheimer's disease until his death in 2007. She loved to cook, and once she knew your favorite food, she would make sure it was on the table every time you visited. She delighted in her grandchildren and always had plenty of M&M's candies on hand as a special treat when they visited. She and her husband were long time members of Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Baxley until their move to Augusta, Georgia in 2004 where she attended First Presbyterian Church of Augusta as a member of the Trinity class.
Mrs. Williamson is survived by her three children, Mr. Herman Williamson (Paula) of Guyton, Mrs. Bettyann Murphy (Howard) of Guyton, and Dr. Don Williamson (Karon) of Augusta, a brother, Mr. James Herrin (Myrna) of Baxley, grandchildren Kevin Williamson, Chris Williamson (Amanda), Patricia Williamson, Danny Murphy, Corrie Peterson (James), Trevor McDonald, Will Williamson, Alexandra Williamson, and Seth Williamson, great grandchildren Dalton West, Brett Williamson, Caroline Williamson, and great, great grandchild, Peyton Humer. Too numerous to name, she also leaves behind friends and an extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to her long time personal caretaker Gwen Baker and the excellent nursing staff of Effingham Health Care Center for their kind service in Mrs. Williamson's later years.
The family will welcome visitors at 10:00 a.m. before the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Thomas C. Strickland Funeral Home, 901 Hwy 80 West, Pooler, Georgia. The Reverend John Franks of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta will officiate. A graveside service will take place at Effingham Memorial Gardens immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta "Building GeneroCity" fund for the establishment of a community and children's center: 642 Telfair Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30901
