Isiah Charles Morgan, 89, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Hospice House in Savannah, GA. He was a resident of Springfield, GA.
He was born in Clyo on September 2, 1922, son of Charlie and Blanche Morgan. He was a 40-year employee and retired crane operator at Continental Can / Stone Container in Port Wentworth, GA. He also served as a Corporal in the 80th Infantry Division of the Army under General Patton in the Rhineland during World War II. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending azaleas and flowers, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Christy, of Springfield; a daughter, Rhonda Pierce, of Garden City; a grandson, Zachary Pierce, of Garden City; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Haley and Jeremy Johnson, of Richmond, VA; one great-granddaughter, Sydney; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The visitation will be from 1-2 pm Tuesday at Thomas C Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow immediately after in the chapel at 2 p.m.
Burial: Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, GA.
